What the Bride Didn't Know The West Family Kelly Hunter Books
Makin’ The Love Monday – What The Bride Didn’t Know by Kelly HunterWhat the Bride Didn’t Know was a cute little action/adventure. This is one of those Harlequin books that has a crazy far-fetched premise and I had not read any of the West Family books that had come before this title, Flirting With Intent and Cracking With The Dating Code and it really would have helped to have read them first, so that is a word to the wise. But this was a shiny evening read gem.
The West Family have all been part of the ASIS-Australian Secret Intelligence Service (There is a joke in here because I once knew a New Zealander friend who was found of telling me all the intelligence in Oz was hidden). Trig, joined the ASIS when Jared and Lena did. He would basically follow her to the ends of the earth because he has been in love with her since they were all kids. The fact that nineteen months earlier Lena was severally hurt while the three of them were on a mission has sent Jared rogue and Lena to Istanbul following a lead that he may be in the region. Trig again follows Lena there–that whole to the ends of the earth thing. His intent is to see that she stays safe while on this goose chase, even if it means keeping her safe from herself. He couldn’t have foreseen her getting amnesia and thinking they were married and on their honeymoon. A state of affairs that sounded so good to him that he couldn’t help but keep up with it, but then it just got out of hand. It’s a dream come true for Trig–and his worst nightmare.
The novel was a really charming and fun romantic escapade. I couldn’t help but feel bad for Trig because a guys heart can only shine so bright before someone calls him to put a shade on it. The cloak and dagger stuff was rather ridiculous but if I wanted to lose myself in quality espionage I’d pick me up some Ian Fleming. This book is a solid three stars, but that might only be because I was sweet on Trig. I can’t say how it would have fared if he weren’t so hapless and hopeless where Lena is concerned. What the Bride Didn't Know The West Family Kelly Hunter Books Reviews
I love Kelly Hunter' s books. She is a terrific author and a great story teller. I have to go see if there are more books about the West Family because now I have to know about her brother.
The whole family is way out there. When Jared stays missing everyone gets in the act. Trig is a very sexy character. You'll love the whole series. I know I can't wait for Jared's story. This was really great to read during our recent snow storm...not required.
This is the first book I have read by Kelly Hunt and is was fantastic. I love Trig and Lena, Trig who has loved Lena forever and vice versa. And Jared, Poppy, Ruby and Damon are we wonderful. I cannot wait to read more from this talented writer.
I am loving all of the KISS series books for their feesh and fun romance, and Kelly Hunter just became my new favorite author in the series with this story! She's taken what could have been a stale idea with Lena's amnesia and entwined it with the thriller of her missing brother and the comedy of a fake marriage. The combination of Trig's hilarious attempts to maintain the charade and resist the woman he loves along with Lena's love for Trig and her missing brother make this the most fun reading can be. Kelly's characters are real people you can relate to in unusual situations that keep you reading to know more about them and their story, and she paints vivid pictures about family and loyalty with a satisfying depth. Read this book, and you'll have to read the rest of the West family stories like I did!
The latest installment in the West Family series doesn't disappoint. I was really glad to read Lena's story, because I really wanted a happy ending for her. When I realized how that was going to come about, using one of those romance genre/soap opera devices that can really be a problem, I was a little worried. But it worked for me, and I enjoyed the book very much.
Most of the story takes place in Turkey, and I thought that aspect of the book was particularly fine. The setting was integrated well into the story, or vice-versa, and the people and places came alive without feeling at all like a travelogue.
I absolutely LOVED this story.
They've loved each other forever but the code (can't make the moves on his best friends sister) kept them from saying anything about it. For years they've been side by side. School, career, therapy, and even when Lena heads to Turkey to find her brother, Trig is by her side.
Then an an accident leaves Lena with select memories and one well meaning lie leads to a whole lot of frustration and confusion for both Trig and Lena.
This was a real page turner and tugged my heart strings. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
I really enjoyed this one. I previously read Cracking the Dating Code with the sibling, which was also very good. Kelly Hunter is the funniest and most intelligent Harlequin writer out there. She gives you the gorgeous guy (who is thankfully not always a billionaire), and the beautiful heroine, but they are also all smart and articulate and have amusing conversations. The exotic locations are also believable, so she doesn’t have to keep using the same three endearments in a foreign language to remind you that the romance is taking place in another country. This romance involved two Australians in Istanbul, which was a nice change from the Greek billionaire format. I wish all Harlequins were written this well.
