Highland Legacy is a phenomenal Highlander romance by B.J. Scott. Ms. Scott has delivered a book that is well-written and loaded with outstanding characters. Cailin decides to run away before she's forced to marry a man she can't stand. When she's attacked by English soldiers a stranger saves her, killing the soldier and leaving his friend tied to a tree. She thanks Connor by stabbing him with his own dagger. Cailin and Connor's story is loaded with drama, action, sizzle, humor and suspense. This book will grab you at the first page and not set you free until the last. I enjoyed reading Highland Legacy and look forward to reading more from B.J. Scott in the future. Highland Legacy is book 1 of the Fraser Brothers Trilogy but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

A great story! A good edit would improve the overall reading experience, otherwise this one might just be a 5 star read. The characters are wonderful and well developed. The hero and heroine are loveable; the villain is a smarmy creep...the reader has just cause for cheering at the end of many scenes! You will "BOOO"! repeatedly whenever the villain makes an entry. I'll be reading more of this series in the near future!
The English believed that they were superior to their Scottish neighbors. English kings constantly tried to rule over Scotland. Soldiers raped and blundered their way across Scotland. Caitlin was accused of killing an English soldier. Saved by Connor, a Highlander, they seek refuge in Scotland. Only to be heavily pursued by the soldier's powerful brother. Through all the twists, turns and violence, can Caitlin and Connor find happiness?
All the characters, including side ones, were good in this story although the heroine was a little too prickly to like for a little bit in the very beginning for me, especially for one who was supposed to have been so beaten down through her childhood. The story flowed nicely & stayed true to the historical timeline of the various Scottish resistance skirmishes. The hero & heroine both had issues in their pasts that would truly cause them to have relationship problems. By the end you were rooting for their hard won relationship through some very tough trials.
This was an okay book. The characters were alright, and the plot did have a fair amount of action in it, not to mention romance. I didn't really feel the chemistry between Cailin and Connor, though. As that's the main focus of the book, that meant that I didn't really like it.

Also, I've read four or five other historical romances set in Scotland, and this didn't really do anything new or different for me. If it was the first or second one, I think I would've enjoyed this book more. But again, the chemistry was kind of lackluster for me, so who knows?

Oh, and I don't like the cover very much.

Oh, how I enjoyed this story, and have purchased the other two stories in the series already.

I felt a connection to our H/h almost immediately. We get very passionate lovemaking, somewhat descriptive. We have suspense, intrigue, villains, humor, sadness, and just a darn good highland romance.

The romance builds slowly which made their journey of loving each other more special.

There is a touching ending, no cliffhanger so if you don't want to read about the other two brother's you don't have to, but please do because I can't wait for their stories.

I am not going into the premise as it has been told, just what you will get out of reading this story. (ljb)
Generally do not read romance novels and hesitated reading it, in part due to the cliche bare chested kilt wearing Adonis on the cover. But who doesn't love a Highland Romance....this was well written...characters well developed and believable. As I haven't read many romance novels, I wasn't quite prepared for the "love" scenes, but they were beautifully written. Overall an enjoyable break from my usual reads...
Caitlin Macmillan father was a harsh and brutal man. He ruled the castle and Caitlin with harsh brutal hand. Blaming Caitlin for living and her twin brother and Mother dying during birth. Her father deamed Caitlin strong will and useless other then for bartering for more favor with the English. Her father promised Caitlin in marriage to a harsh man 30years her senior. Refusing her father brought violent punishment and Caitlin knew her only answer was to run away. Running to her favorite river bank spot she was making her plans to run away. While planning her escape 2 English soldiers found her and tried to rape her, but Connor, who was traveling to meet another clan leader heard her screams. When he attached the soldiers freeing Caitlin, she ran putting distance between her attaches and the rescuer. Connor then finding her after she stumbled felt an of connection...as Caitlin felt their draw.
Then begins Connor and Caitlin's adventure fleeing capture for murder, while Connor planing how to gain Scotland freedom from England.
There is definitely high intrigue, as Caitlin and Connor end up traveling together, with Caitlin wanted and Connor heading to meet to fight for Scotland's freedom. The love and devotion that brings the two together and facing their past will keep you turning the pages with breath holding battles and your heart warm as their love grows. Well done story.
